Where can I find a money tree?!

There are a lot of things in life that I don't really understand and I can accept that. But there is one thing in particular that just blows my mind....the price of stuff! And it is just that....STUFF! If you are a parent then you definitely know where I'm coming from. There is so much stuff that babies/kids need throughout their life, whether it be the necessities like diapers, clothes, shoes or the other stuff that they need want, like all of those cool toys.

This weekend we treated Keegan to his own special day full of fun. One place in particular that we went to was Toys 'R Us. We knew that he would love to walk around looking at and playing with all of the toys but our main goal was to get some ideas of what he likes so we could get some idea of what to get him for his birthday {and so Santa could get some ideas for Christmas}. Now I know that toys aren't cheap {especially at the above mentioned store} but it seems like the older Keegan gets the more expensive toys get! UGH....I just don't understand why things have to be priced so high!

For example....Keegan is obsessed with Thomas {you know that blue train with lots of friends}. Well Thomas is a pretty popular guy, therefore he is not cheap! One train will set you back about $12-$15 {for the motorized ones}.
Yep....there he is a $15 battery operated Thomas. And you can't have just one train, you have to have multiple trains. And what else do the trains need? Tracks of course...what kind of train can go without tracks silly? And can you believe that these tracks have to be bought separately from the trains? The trains also need some cargo cars to pull around...yep those are extra also! I don't even want to know how much money we have laying around the house in trains, tracks and cargo cars alone!

At the toy store, there is a whole section dedicated to Thomas. They even have a train table set up with trains on it for the kids to play with. Keegan loved it...good gift idea right? HA...it was $199!! He can keep crawling around of the floor playing with his trains! I'm not about to spend $199 on a piece of wood {if it was even real wood} that looks like something I could make!

Well...I found out yesterday that Thomas is in the area! I was so excited {for Keegan of course} when I found this out. He would absolutely LOVE to be able to see Thomas up close & in real life. I did some searching and got all of the information about "A Day Out With Thomas". Not only is Thomas there, but you can take a ride on Thomas {yep...a real train ride on the real Thomas} and they have all sorts of different activities for the kids to do. This is perfect! I find the day and time that I was interested in and clicked on the "find tickets now" button.

I get redirected to the page where I select the number of tickets that I want and there it is....the price of the tickets: $19.50. I'm pretty sure my jaw fell to the floor and I had my "you have got to be getting me" look on my face! {that's definitely what was running through my head} I couldn't believe that they charge $19.50 to take a ride on Thomas, it's not like it goes very far, it is only a 30 minute ride. That would mean it would cost my little family of three $60 to spend a day with Thomas. As if spending $19.50 per ticket wasn't enough, they charge you an extra $10.95 for a service charge? What the?!?! I seriously contemplated not buying the tickets after I saw that.

Well....I sucked it up and bought the tickets. I know how much it would mean to Keegan to be able to see Thomas and I can't wait to see his face light up when he sees him for the first time. The money spent will be forgotten when I see his big blue eyes light up {hopefully with happiness and not tears of horror} and that smile on his face.

Yes....I know they price things like that because people still pay the money {like me for example} but it still irritates me to no end.

Thanks for listening to me vent...I'm done for the day!

Keegan's Fish

While I was away in NY, Ryan & Keegan decided that it was the perfect time to get some fish {perfect timing alright, I wasn't there to stop them!}. I was pretty surprised to find this new addition to our household but was happy that it was just a small tank and not a big 10 gallon one that Ryan really wants to get!

Meet Keegan's fish....

They are goldfish but not your normal 30 cent goldfish, they are little more special than that! There is one big one {Elmo} and two smaller ones {Cookie Monster & Grover}. Keegan came up with the names all by himself {bet you didn't figure that one out already huh?}! Cookie Monster got his name because he hogs all the food and the other two I guess just "came" to him! lol

So, of course I laid down some rules....ok just one rule, but it is a very important one!! I told Ryan that I am NOT in charge of the fish & I will NOT be cleaning the tank out....under any circumstances! We did the whole beta fish thing before and guess who was the only one who ever cleaned the tank & fed it....yep, you guessed it, it was me! Although the fish don't bother me and Keegan really does like them, Ryan was the one who bought them so he can be the one to take care of them!

Keegan loves his fish and does pretty good with them. He usually feeds them every night when we get home, except for those days when he is too concerned about getting a snack for himself and playing with his toys!

He likes the fish so much that he decided they needed something to look at:

That's right...after our trip to the pumpkin patch Keegan decided that the fish would like to look at the pumpkins! He grabbed all of the small pumpkins that I got to use as part of a centerpiece and placed them around the fish tank so the fish can look at them! Oh...and my centerpiece....still no pumpkins, I'm not allowed to move them away from the fish tank!

Ok.....if you are having an emotional day, consider this your warning! Apparently one of the fish didn't like his new home! The Tuesday after they came "home" one of them took a visit to fish heaven. We knew it wasn't going to last long because it wasn't very "active" and was moving kinda slow {if you know what I mean}.

When Ryan feed them in the morning he told me he didn't think it would last all day & asked me what we should tell Keegan. I said we aren't going to tell him anything! I did what any good mom would do and went to the store on my way home from work and bought a "replacement" fish! When we got home Keegan went straight to feed the fish. Well...there it was, just laying on the bottom of the tank completely lifeless. Fortunately it was half way under the boat so Keegan just thought it was stuck & thought it was funny! Keegan then got a snack & was playing in the living room....perfect!  That gave me the opportunity to "switch" out the fish without him noticing at all! {other good moms would do this too right?}

Whew....you have no idea how scared I was that I was going to get caught! Fish drama was over and everything was perfect in the fish tank again! Well it was perfect....until today. Ryan feed them before he left for work & told me he thought one was dead. My first thought was "it's 4:50 a.m. I don't care about the stupid fish" and then my second thought was "seriously, another dead fish? I'm NOT buying another one!" Once I got up I went in to check and sure enough....we lost another fish. I really don't want to buy another "replacement". At the rate we are going I would be buying a new fish once a week....yep, that's not going to happen!

Keegan doesn't know about his fish yet and I have no idea what to tell him. Any suggestions on how to tell a 3 year old that his fish died would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Busy Bees

HOLY COW...it has been almost a week since my last blog!! I'm doing some serious slacking around here! Things have been pretty busy around the Pflueger household lately. Now that I say that...it seems like we have been really busy but yet I feel like nothing really got accomplished. Ugh...I hate that feeling!

A little recap of our weekend....

Friday night the boys went to the football game {what else would they do on a Friday night?} while I stayed home and hosted a Margarita Pampered Chef party. We had some really good food and some great homemade Margaritas. Not to mention the oh so wonderful, mouth watering Chocolate Lava Cake {which was made in the microwave} and let me tell you it was just as good for breakfast the next morning! :)

Saturday we helped celebrate little Brody's 1st Birthday! He is such a cutie and although there were some meltdowns {but what birthday party would be complete without those} I think it is safe to say that he really enjoyed digging into is massive cupcake and opening all of his presents! From there we went and got Keegan's Halloween costume. We had different opinions as to what he should be but ultimately Mommy won {like usual}...I'm not going to give it away as to what he will be but I will give you a hint.....he will be wearing a hat!! We also went to my in-laws clubhouse that night because they made turtle soup and Ryan just HAD to go try it. Keegan and I stuck to eating the hot dogs! Since it was so cold out they had a little bonfire also and we had the chance to break out our hoodies....which is probably one of my favorite clothing items! I just LOVE hoodies!!

Check out Keegan's new hoodie!
 HAHA! Isn't it just too cute?!

Here's some more pics from that night.

When we got home Saturday night Keegan wanted to sleep on the couch so we suggested that we pull out the bed...he LOVED that idea! So he decided to grab Mickey and have a little party {which consisted of just sleeping}!

On Sunday we went pumpkin picking at a local pumpkin patch in town. It is smaller {and a lot cheaper} than the other more, popular pumpkin patch that is around here. Don't get me wrong....the bigger, more popular one is really cool and I really want to take Keegan there some day but the small one will do for now! I was hoping to get the rest of the stuff that I want to decorate the front of the house with for fall but that didn't happen {sigh}...maybe by next weekend I will finally be done decorating.

We told him he could pick any pumpkin he wanted but he had to be able to carry it...so this is what he found! And apparently we no longer know how to smile normal anymore! lol

Told you....no more normal smiles for this kid!

To my surprise he absolutely LOVED going through the corn maze!

Trying to pull the wagon back to the truck...

then decided it was much easier to just sit back & take a ride!

That pretty much sums up the past weekend!! Things haven't really slowed down at all the last couple of days but we decided that we needed some down time last night so we had "family game night". Which was really just a night of playing the Wii and eating popcorn for supper! Yes...you read that correctly....we ate popcorn for supper and let me tell you, there were no complaints from anyone! :)

It's Friday....

Do you know what that means?! That's right...it's time for some confessions!! I skipped my confessions last week because....well I was on my way to New York and I didn't feel like posting a blog from my phone {however I seriously considered doing it!}, so maybe I will give you some extra confessions this week...maybe!

I admit {prepare yourself for this, it's gross} that yesterday on my way to work I realized that I forgot to brush my teeth!! OMG...I can't believe I did that! Of course I was rushing around trying to get everything, while Keegan is whining that he doesn't want to leave and he wants to watch "his" TV. I told Keegan he had five more minutes {which it was only 2 minutes} so I scarfed down a bowl of cereal grabbed everything & we headed out the door....minus brushing my teeth! I felt gross all day & brushed them as soon as I got home {and this morning}!

I admit that I didn't wash Keegan's clothes for almost a month....true story! I just did all of Keegan's laundry this week and the clothes he wore Labor Day weekend were at the bottom of the hamper....whoops! That just goes to show you how many clothes this kid actually has! OH...and I only did it because he was out of clean pajama shirts! :)

While in NY there were people dressed up as different characters standing around letting people take pictures with them. Of course they work for money so if you take a picture with them it will cost you. Well....while sitting at the Rockefeller Center, I saw Elmo & thought I have to take a picture and send it to Keegan!

I admit that I took like 10 pictures of Elmo on my phone until I got just the right one while sitting ! It worked and Keegan loved getting the picture on Daddy's phone!

I admit that when I get to work in the mornings I usually don't do anything work related for the first hour...honestly! My routine...e-mail, Facebook, People.com, Days of Our Lives website, check new blogs that I follow, personal e-mail. Then I start doing work related stuff....sometimes! :)

I admit that I spent too much money on a purse that I won't use very often but I have a very good reason....it's COACH!! I grew an obsession for these purses while in Vegas, which is where I got my first one, so I figured why not get one while in NY also?! It is one of those that you wear across your body but it is smaller and perfect for those occasions that I need a purse but not my big every day one!

I admit that the only thing I really want for Christmas is this & I'm trying to convince Ryan that I have to have it...even though he thinks it's crazy to spend the amount of money that is on the price tag. {feel free to help me convince him to get this for me!}

Seriously, I would be perfectly content if all I got for Christmas is this purse, I would even be happy to consider it my birthday present also! {Ryan....I know at some point you're going to read this so....please, please, please get me this for Christmas, I would love you forever (and yes I already do but you get what I'm getting at) and I would be the happiest person ever! Love you Babe!}

I admit that we moved the TV that was in Keegan's toy room into the front living room of our house. Not a big deal right? Just wait...we decided to move the TV into this room {which we don't use hardly at all} whenever we got the DirecTV hooked up. Why? Because that way either me or Ryan can watch it while the other is watching the TV in the main living room and sit on a regular size couch at the same time! Yep...we moved the TV out of Keegan's toy room for our own selfish reason...but Keegan loves it because he can sit on the big couch now instead of his little Cars couch that he is getting too big for! So it was a win-win situation and everyone is happy!

I think that is plenty for this week! Now it's your turn...what are you willing to confess about?!
