Confession Friday

We made it to Friday...woohoo!!! I'm not happy just because it's Friday {although we all know how much I love this day} but it's also Blogger Girl's Night Out!!! I think that deserves a big WOOHOO!!! {btw...meeting at the winery in the Bud at 7 if anyone wants to meet up with us....oh and Cassie is taking one for the team, if you count being prego taking one for the team, and being our DD, thanks in advance for putting up with us tonight Cassie!!} The only thing that could make this day any better would be if we had some nice weather instead of the crappy high of 40 rainy/snowy stuff that is going on....and if I didn't have to work today but then again I think that every day! Ok, enough with my rambling let's get onto what you really want to hear.....

I confess

.....I finally bought a new brand of mascara last weekend {I'm kind of a mascara snob and have been using the same kind for a long time} because 1. I had a coupon and 2. I've really been wanting to try it so I took the chance and I love it!! Except for one thing...I accidentally bought the waterproof kind and it's possible that it took a couple of days of wearing it & don't understanding why I couldn't get it off for me to figure it out! I'll put that on my list of blond moments!

Have you used this kind yet?! If not go buy yourself some, it could possibly be my new fav!!

.....Keegan had an accident at daycare and had to wear girl underwear & bring pink sweat pants because I forgot to take his bag of extra clothes and I was thisclose to taking a picture but I didn't and I would like to think he will thank me for that some day! But I have to say that I totally blame Ryan because whenever he picks Keegan up he brings his bag home, where as I leave it there all the time so I always forget to take it back....and I can't believe the daycare didn't any boy spare clothes!!

.....that I'm contemplating buying a new shirt to wear tonight because I haven't done laundry yet and I need to go to Target after work anyways to go non waterproof mascara!

.....when I was driving to work this morning and saw some cars with snow on them I got really confused! Then as I kept driving there was a dusting on the ground so it made more sense! But seriously, we had 70 degree weather less than a week ago and now there is this crap...it's even on the gas pumps!!

Yes, I'm one of the crazy people that takes pictures of gas pumps when I'm putting gas in my car....at least Ryan says I'm crazy!

.....that I think it's funny when Keegan mispronounces certain words and I laugh everytime he says them wrong! For example: garbage truck = barbage truck, Sir Tophamm Hat = Sir Top of the Hat, medium = memium. And yes, we do try to correct him and teach him the correct way to say them, except for Sir Top of the Hat, he really thinks that's what it is and there might have been a slight argument about it!

.....that I may or may not have used reversed psychology to get Ryan to change his mind about driving to Arizona in May!! We are now flying instead of being in the car for 22 hours!! ;)

......that I've been on Web MD more this week than I ever have in my entire life and I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing yet!!

......that we got our taxes done last night and the only thing I have to say about it is a big F YOU to the federal government!! Oh, and the state of Missouri....they can both kiss my ass!!

On that note, what are you going to confess to this week?!

10 Things for Thursday

Don't let the 10 things fool ya....today's topic is easy!! And don't forget that I'm completely stealing this from Stephanie over at Parker's Prints so head on over and check out her 10 things too!

Today's topic is:
The first 10 things you did this morning.
  1. told Ryan bye when he left, I might have said "love you too" but most days I don't remember if I do or not because I'm still out of it when he leaves for work
  2. hit the snooze button...only 3 times today, impressive for me!!
  3. got out of bed and of course went pee {anyone who says they don't do this first thing in the morning is a liar, just sayin}
  4. took a shower
  5. checked FB {bad morning habit}
  6. started the coffee maker
  7. started doing my make up
  8. turned on cartoons, got little man apple juice & sticky fruit snacks {aka gushers...and yes I let him eat those when he wakes up in the morning, it's not like he won't be eating an actual breakfast as soon as he gets to daycare} and of course myself a cup of coffee....and yes I grouped all of these things together because...well...because it's my list & I can do what I want! :)
  9. finished doing make up
  10. started the search of finding something to wear today...and I'm just going to add that I'm actually wearing the first outfit I picked out, which is a very rare occurrence!

Inspiring Blogs

I have a lot of, let's call it down time at work, which leaves me with nothing to do being on the Internet way too much. Seriously, there are some days when I think to myself "what else could I possibly look up" and that's how I've become addicted to the wonderful land of blogs. I couldn't even tell you how many blogs I have seen/read since I first started becoming addicted.

At one point I took a look at the list of blogs that I "follow" and I felt kind of like a blog whore! I mean seriously, there were some many of them!! If I started reading a blog and liked one or two of the posts then I would become a follower...and most of the time I wouldn't even take another look at the blog so I decided to un-follow some. It made me feel less like a blog whore! {just between you & me, I've become a follower to more blogs since then so I'm probably right back to where I started but when I look at some people's list I don't feel like such a whore after all!!} Ok, enough with the blog whore talk, let's get back to the real reason for the post.....

I've recently come across several blogs where they talk about and share their stories of infertility and the struggles of getting pregnant. Umm...why didn't I find these a couple of months long time ago?!?! Although I'm sure we aren't dealing with infertility problems, I can completely relate to the struggles and frustrations of trying to conceive and not making any progress.

I commend these ladies for being open with what they are going through because even though I have put it all out here on blog land I still can't even talk about when people ask. I don't know why but I can't. When my hairdresser asked if we wanted any more kids I replied with "ya, eventually" and when a question was asked at a family function when we were going to have another I was beyond relieved when the subject somehow suddenly changed and I didn't have to say a word about it. So a big kuddos to these ladies for sharing their struggles every step of the way. And I've even learned more about the process that the hubs & I are currently going through from a couple of them and even though I am feeling more optimistic about everything since my last visit with the doctor, their stories help me try even harder to keep a positive outlook {which is a lot better than the previous grumpy attitude that I had}.

So if you are like me and have nothing better to do at work some down time check out these blogs....

Stealing Baby Kisses

Artificially Fertile Myrtle

From Shopping Bags to Diaper Bags

I'm just sayin...

  • the amount a state can charge for sales tax is crazy...is a 17% sales tax really necessary, I mean really?
  • when your 3 year old son says "mommy, what are those two things under your shirt?", it's time to start making sure he isn't in the room when you change clothes!
  • I do NOT drive a mini-van and if one more person calls it that they better watch out, even Keegan knows that it isn't a mini-van...and he will tell you "Mommy does NOT drive mini-vans!"
  • Oxy Clean has a bigger piece of my heart now that I have a child who refuses to poop on the potty.
  • waterproof mascara should really be called "there is no chance in hell you are going to get this stuff off your eyes, even if you use eye makeup remover".
  • the DVR is the greatest invention ever, it even beats sliced bread!
  • the extra 30 minutes it took me to get to work this morning didn't bother me at all....why complain about having a legitimate reason for being late?!
  • patience is a virtue, it also happens to be a virtue that I don't have.
  • the people who decide that they price of virtually everything is going to go up can kiss my ass.....you guys suck!!
  • Friday can't get here soon enough!!!
What are you just sayin today?

Panels & Sheers

We have been living in our house for a year and some months and while we have made lots of changes in that time there are still things that need to be done.

For example...our front room {or as Keegan calls it "my living room"}. This room has pretty much collected our "leftovers"...our old couch, the glider that was in Keegan's room at the old house, an end table that isn't really needed elsewhere, a hope chest, the TV that Keegan watches his movies on, and most recently the hall tree that my aunt gave to us. The only thing that we have actually done in this room is paint the walls and hang up a picture frame, just one....even the old, outdated gold trimmed light fixture is still up and it bothers me every single time I look at it {which will be replaced some day}.

There is a huge window in this room and until a couple of days ago the only thing that was on it was the old shade that was on it when we bought the house....you know those old roll up shade things that use to be popular way back when and are a pain the ass to get to work right. Let me show you what I'm talking about...

And what's even worse about it....it's on backwards!! Yep, when it was put back up after being taken down to paint it was put up backwards and we have never fixed it, partially due to laziness and partially due to me hoping to have something else up there sooner than a year and some months later!

There are a couple of reasons why it has taken so long though. One, I had no idea what I wanted up there. I eventually want this room to be a sitting area type of room...I'm envision some chairs, a new lay out of the furniture, things on the walls {besides on stinkin picture frame} and somehow creating more of an entrance way kind of space instead of just walking into this open room. {And I have no idea when any of this will happen but hopefully it will some day!} Therefore I didn't know what color{s} to choose or what kind of style to go with. Second, to get curtains for this size of a window is anything but cheap and I hate spending a lot of money on curtains...I just don't understand why they are so damn expensive!

Well this past weekend when I was looking at the new Target ad before doing some shopping I saw that they had panels on sale for just $9!! SOLD...I immediately put it on my mental list of things to get. I'm not going to lie, when I got to the store and found out that they are normally $9.99 I was kinda disappointed but hey, at least I saved $4 right? I picked out a color threw them in the cart and then picked out a rod {which are way overpriced as well}. I have to say that I'm not exactly in love with these curtains, I was really wanted some kind of print and the fabric isn't my favorite but it will work and they are much better than that stupid shade.

Have a look....

{before I ironed them}

{you can see the part of the ugly light in this pic}

Now...here's what I'm thinking of doing. I'm not completely crazy about the idea of leaving them closed the majority of the time so I'm thinking about getting some sheer panels to go in the middle or getting sheer panels to go all the way across and putting up a second rod...that way I could open those up when I feel like it. What do you think?! Would it look ok with the sheer panels?!

Here's a couple more pics after I ironed the curtains...oh and that rod, can't stand it! I originally got it because I liked the color and it was one of the cheapest ones but now that it is up, it's a little too wimpy & puny for the window, I'm thinking it needs something bigger!! Opinions?!

And the curtains....I wanted them to be touching the floor, you know like just grazing the carpet and this is what I got after I told the hubs how I wanted it....can't stand it, makes it look like they are too small. Maybe I will fix that when I get a new rod! :)

And something else that is driving me crazy....

Can you tell what it is {besides the puzzle pieces all over the floor}.....see that panel on the far left? It's longer than the rest!! The panel on the far right looks a tad longer as well. I thought maybe it was the because the middle bracket for the rod wasn't quite level but it seems to be just fine!! UGH!!! Maybe a new, bigger, more sturdy rod will solve that problem too...if not, looks like I'm going to have to do some hemming!! What can I expect, they were only $9!

So...what do you think? Add sheers, don't add sheers? Add sheers in just the middle or add a second rod with sheers all the way across? Get a bigger rod & rod ends or leave the puny one up?

Toy Room Transformation

The time has finally come....the toy room transformation is finally being revealed!! Keep in mind that there is still work to be done in this room and it will all get done within time {hopefully sooner rather than later} and I will show you the new additions to the room as they are added!!

Before

After

I didn't get any pictures of the room after everything was ripped out...the hubs moved a little too fast at getting everything done before I could whip out my camera. I was able to get some pictures after the new drywall went up and before the painting started...

The walls covered in primer....

This room use to be completely open to the rest of the basement. Ryan built the little wall with the double door opening when refinishing the other part of the basement so we could close it off when needed.

First coat of paint...

Both of the doors on this wall were double closet doors. When re framing the room Ryan decided to make the one on the far left a sliding door and the one on the right a single, regular door. {Please ignore all of the crap you see behind the door openings!!}

Painting is done...trim, doors & new carpet installed!!

BTW...the missing pieces of trim above the doors have been installed since these pictures have been taken!!

Some, but not all, of the toys are in the room...

See the back wall, the one where the little table is sitting in front of? Picture wall to wall built in shelves there...not sure when that will happen but I've been told that it will and I'm very excited about it! We need all the extra storage we can get in this room!

There will be a little something going on the wall underneath the "Keegan" sign between the two doors!

There it is...the "new" toy room...however the "old" toy room still has a bunch of toys in it, along with the living room upstairs and Keegan's bedroom!

I really, really, really love the way the red paint turned out {thanks again Kim for the awesome deal!} and am sooo glad I don't listen to Ryan when it comes to picking out paint colors!! I can't wait to get some things up on the walls because them being bare is driving me crazy!

Weekend Wrap Up

Why do the weekends always seem to just fly right on by?! I'm thinking that every weekend should be at least 3 days long...maybe I would get more accomplished that way?

Friday night I had bunco so the boys were left to fend for themselves...they were both breathing when I got home so apparently all went well!!

Saturday was a sleep in late, stay in your pj's all day kind of day. The boys went out for breakfast {a weekend ritual of theirs...just the boys, no mom allowed} and headed over to the grandparent's house so I could sleep in a little and let me just say that I took full advantage of it!! I ended up sleeping until 10:45 and it was great! The only productive thing I got done all day was cleaning the kitchen and not just decluttering the counters, like scrubbing everything kind of cleaning...not sure what got over me to even do it, wait a second, actually I do know what got over me...the hubs either did or said something that pissed me off & I was in the kitchen at the time so I started cleaning! I also got a little project done for the toy room so it wasn't a complete waste of a day. Saturday night Ryan was playing in a poker tournament so it was just Keegan & I and I was going to make a little "date" out of it...that is until he fell asleep around 5 as the result of not taking a nap. So I had a date with my dvr instead and got caught up on my shows....oh and I treated myself to some delivery and ate way too much. I ended the night with a book & a bubble bath....until Keegan was wide awake at 11:30, luckily he eventually fell back asleep!

Sunday was absolutely beautiful!! With the weather being amazing I made the executive decision that the laundry and cleaning could get pushed to the back burner because I was going to enjoy it!! We were outside for the majority of the day and did a little bit of everything...

We did a little bit of this...

And a little bit of this...

  A whole lot of this...

A little bit of this...

A ton of time doing this...

And I even spent some time starting a new project that involves this...

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Did you get outside and enjoy the weather?!
