Birthday Party Fun

Yes....I know Keegan's birthday isn't until November BUT I can't resist starting early on all of the stuff I will need for his party! I've already ordered his shirt, have a banner & favor bag tags in the works, and got the cake covered {kinda}. Now I'm working on the invitations. Let me rephrase that....I've been working on the invitations for about a month now but I just haven't found anything that I absolutely loved...until now! I know you're asking "so what's the problem Meagan?" I will tell you what the problem is, I found three that I LOVE but I can't decide which one I absolutely love the most. I'm kind of leaning towards one more than the other two but then I look at all of them and I'm back to loving all three equally again!

This is where you come in! I'm going to show you the three that I have it narrowed down to and you are going to tell me which one you like the most!

Keep in mind that I will be changing the information & pictures on all of them! :)

Picture Day...

Oh the joy of school picture day! I completely forgot about Keegan's "school" pictures being done today until I saw the poster yesterday morning! It's a good thing I remembered then and not this morning when I dropped him off!

At least I had all day yesterday to figure out what he was going to wear....then I realized that he didn't have any nice shoes that fit him anymore! Ugh....why do kids have to grow so fast?! All he has for shoes right now are two pairs of tennis shoes {both of which look crappy}, two pairs of flip flops {both of which are a tad bit too small because his feet grew almost two sizes over the summer}, and a pair of brown sandals {which wouldn't go well with a fall background}! Luckily Payless is on my way home from work so I stopped by yesterday to see what they had. To my surprise they have their famous BOGO sale going on right now....score! I went to his section and of course they didn't have much of a selection, not to mention they didn't have the kind that I really wanted. Then I didn't know what size to actually get him so I used the BOGO to my advantage and decided to grab two different sizes just to be on the safe side! I found a pair that I liked grabbed one size, went to get it in a different size and guess what?! They didn't have it....go figure! I found a different style that I liked but wasn't crazy about them...that was until I saw they were on sale for $9.99! Yep...they looked a lot better now! :) I grabbed both pairs of shoes & went to checkout. The first pair was marked at $17.99 {which by the way is ridiculous for a pair of shoes for a kid who is only going to wear them for a couple of months} but when she rang them up it said $14.99! Don't forget about the BOGO...the pair for $9.99 ended up being $4.50!

That's right....I got these shoes for only $4.50!!

I had every intention to take the pair back that didn't fit Keegan but once I got home & tried them on him I decided to keep them both! :) I mean he will grow into the bigger pair and when he grows out of the other pair I won't have to worry about finding shoes again...not to mention I wouldn't be able to find another pair for $4.50!

After all of the shoe issues I realized I had know idea why I was so worried about it. It's not like I'm going to be buying these pictures anyways...why you ask? Well, Keegan is known for not smiling for pictures. And it's not that he just doesn't smile, he also gives what I like to call "who the hell are you" face to the photographer!! {If any of you know Keegan I'm sure you know what face I'm talking about!!} And school pictures are always right before his birthday, which means he will be getting professional pictures taken soon and I can almost guarantee they will come out good!

For example...his two year pictures:

Which is actually not that bad, but trust me there are other pictures that have been A LOT worse! If only he would smile all the time like when he was a baby!

Oh well....I guess every kid has bad school pictures at some point in their life!

I'm Back!!

Wow....it seems like I have been away from the blogs forever when in reality it has only been four days!! OK...not exactly four days because I checked them every once in a while on my phone while in New York over the weekend {what can I say, I'm addicted!}.

I had such a good time in New York with my wonderful sisters-in-law!! I was nice to be able to get away from everything for a couple of days. I would like to say that it was nice to get away and relax but I'm pretty sure the word was not in our vocabulary over the weekend! We did and saw so much stuff in such a short time that we were constantly doing something. And when we weren't at a specific place we were walking and then walking some more!! The amount of pain that my feet were in is pretty much indescribable....not going to lie they still hurt today. As a matter of fact I had to sit down for a couple of minutes while getting ready for work this morning because they were killing me! {yes I'm a wimp and have no tolerance for pain what so ever!} Speaking of work....do you know how hard it is to have to get up early and go to work when you have been off for four days? Let me tell you....it's not fun!

I have lots of pictures from NY but you are going to have to wait and see them because I was lazy last night and did not feel like putting them on the computer. Honestly....I don't see it happening at all this week considering that I am so exhausted that I could sleep for a whole day and I have a whole house to clean and multiple loads of laundry to complete before Friday! I promise that I will have a whole post dedicated to my trip though {but I can't promise you when it will be up :)}!

Space Savers

I don't know about anyone else but whenever I go on a trip somewhere I always over pack! But I have a perfectly good reason for it...what happens if I only take a minimal amount of clothes and then change my mind about what I want to wear once I get there? I need to have lots of options when it comes to picking out the perfect outfit, not to mention the shoes to go along with those outfits! I usually end up with a big suitcase full of clothes and another suitcase full of shoes and toiletries.

I knew that my trip to New York this weekend wouldn't be any different....except for one small problem. We decided that we are not going to check any bags in at the airport, that way we save a little bit of money and we don't have to wait to get our bags when we land. That's right...all I'm taking with me to New York is a small carry on suitcase!

Seriously...how am I suppose to fit everything into that?!?!

You can only imagine how much I have thought about how in the world I'm going to be able to fit everything into that one, small suitcase! Then one day I thought of the PERFECT idea!

Space Saver Bags!

You know what I'm talking about, those bags that you can put 12 sweaters in, vaccum the air out and voila it is the size of nothing! Come to find out....the make travel space saver bags too!! Man I'm a genious....this is going to be the perfect way to fit all of my stuff into a carry on! So I searched the internet and found these wonderful live saving devices at Bed Bath & Beyond. Again....perfect, that just happens to be one of my favorite stores, so of course I had a coupon to use! I ended up paying $14.99 instead of $19.99 and since they are reusuable I will be able to use them over & over again! Have I mentioned that I'm a genious for thinking of this perfect plan!

I picked out all of my clothes that I wanted to take and even though I have the wonderful space saver bags I made sure to keep it to a minimum {which was not easy!}. I got my clothes and folded them up to a pile like this:

And looks can be decieving...there are more clothes there than you think!!

Then I went to work....I put about 4 or 5 shirts in each space bag. Then I simply followed the directions, zipped up the bag, and rolled the air out. But if you use these, make sure you roll in the right direction or else none of the air will escape...I learned that after trying to do it a couple of times and nothing happened! I have to admit that Ryan saved me and figured it out! I got all of my clothes in my handy dandy bags and put them in the suitcase.

                                      Before space bags:

With space bags:

I have so much more room now!! I have plenty of room left for all of my toiletries and shoes! If you didn't notice, my jeans are not in the bags....the directions said to use shirts in them so I didn't even try putting jeans in there but it's no biggie, they don't take up much space. Now I just have to make sure I don't change my mind about what outfits I want to take....otherwise I have to redo everything! {between me & you...I'm already starting to change my mind about one of my outfits...I think I will be taking a trip to Target on my lunch break!}  After a little last minute packing tomorrow morning  I will be ready for my girls weekend in New York!!

Tasty Tuesday

I'm sure every mom can relate to the problem I'm experiencing....finding new recipes to make for dinner that are QUICK, EASY, and GOOD!

When it comes time to making dinner I always find myself making the same stuff over and over again. Granted most of the stuff is some of our favorites so there are no complaints coming from my family but I would love to have some variety in there every once in a while too. I know that the simple thing would be to just pull out a cookbook and whip something up, but that can be difficult when you don't have much time to prepare dinner so I usually save those meals for the weekends when I know I have the extra time to spend on cooking.

So here is my proposition to you...I will share one of our favorites things to have for dinner {which is of course fast & easy} if you promise to share a recipe also {but it has to be fast & easy}! Now the directions aren't going to exactly be step by step because I don't follow a recipe when I make this so hopefully it will all make sense!

Taco Casserole

* 1lb hamburger
* 1 package taco seasoning
* 1 can Fiesta Nacho Cheese
* Approximately 1/2 bag of wide egg noodles
* Nacho Cheese Dorritos
* Shredded cheese of your choice

Brown hamburger until no longer pink & drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning to hamburger (follow directions on package). Cook noodles according to package. Once hamburger is done mix in can of Fiesta Nacho Cheese. (I keep it on low heat to keep warm if noodles are not done yet at this point.)

Once both noodles and hamburger mixture is done, mix all together in casserole dish. Top with crushed Dorritos {sometimes I mix it up and use the spicy ones} and then layer with shredded cheese {I like to use the Fiesta Blend}. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted at 350 degrees.

Then stuff your face!! lol

Now it's your turn to share a recipe.....

Just Another Manic Monday...

Monday....we meet again, I can't say that I'm very happy to see you. For some reason you are always in a hurry to return into my life, therefore rushing Saturday & Sunday to go by way too fast. Just so you know, those are two of my favorite days and I would really appreciate it if the time I spend with them could go by a little slower. Thanks! Love, Me

The weekend definitely flew by way too fast and it probably didn't help that I was pretty much out of commission ALL day on Saturday! I will blame some of my friends that go by the names of Vodka, Hot Damn, Jager, and God only knows who else was involved on Friday night {now that I think about, maybe I shouldn't consider them friends} for my lack of ability to function! However, I did have a blast celebrating "Lacy's Freedom Fest" with some of the best girls I know!! We love you Lacy!!

All though I wasn't feeling great on Saturday, it was one of the BEST days! Why you ask? Well we had a visitor who brought us a present!!

We have lived in our house for  10 months and have been living with a stupid converter box with only 4 channels {we should have gotten 5 channels but the 5th one never came in}!! For a person who is addicted to watching TV, ME, that was absolutely horrible! Now I can watch some of my favorite shows again!! Like....

Just to name a few! And what is better than being able to watch my favorite shows again? Having a DVR so I can record them all! I already have it set to record one of my all time favorites:

since I won't be home to watch the season premiere!!

Keegan has enjoyed what he calls "his new TV" this weekend too, as a matter of fact, that was the first thing he asked for this morning when he woke up! And as much as Ryan doesn't want to admit it, I know he missed watching some of his shows too! Other than catching up on our favorite shows, we didn't do anything too exciting. I of course did the usual grocery shopping and laundry, which by the way I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself!! I managed to put Ryan's work clothes away after they were clean....I had to remind him this morning though so he woudn't walk downstairs thinking his clothes were there!

*On a side note....I hope everyone gets the song stuck in their head from the title of this post...I have been singing it in my head ever since I started writing this blog!!*

Let's Be Real!

A blog that I follow has started a "Confession Friday", where every Friday she lists some confessions of things that have happened throughout the week and tries to get everyone else to confess something as well. Some of her confessions are pretty funny, check out what she was willing to confess on her blog. And check out what someone else confessed about here!

While others might not be so willing to confess their dirty little secrets, I'm going to take the challenge and confess some stuff to you! Ok....maybe I won't be telling you all of my dirty little secrets but I will be real with you and admit to some stuff that I probably wouldn't want to admit to anyone!

  • I admit that I went through McDonalds drive through way too many times this week, so many times that I probably won't say the exact number! :) I partially blame McDonalds for this though....I mean how am I really suppose to resist $1 sweet teas!! And to give you an idea on how often I get sweet teas....
and yes I bought both of them in the same day! And...I have one sitting next to me right now!

  • I admit that I didn't feel like making supper one night so Keegan didn't actually eat until almost 8 {he goes to bed at 8:30}! And I wouldn't even consider it eating supper....he had about 10 pieces of hard salami, a couple of crackers, some chips, and Trix. Nice combo huh? But hey....that's what he wanted!
  • I admit that even though Keegan won't be three until another two months, we already switched him to the big boy booster seat! It is just so much easier and he meets the height & weight requirements already!
But sleeping like this can't be comfortable!

  • Whenever I do laundry, I do Ryan's work clothes last. Why you ask....because by that time I'm tired of folding clothes & I don't care if his work clothes sit in the dryer all week getting wrinkled! I mean he is a carpenter, working outside getting all sweaty and dirty, does he really need non-wrinkled clothes for that? I don't think so! And yes....this happens almost every week, not just this week! :)

  • I admit that I have become obsessed with buying stuff off the internet....and I secretly wish that Ryan doesn't get home early the same day I'm expecting the package to arrive so I can open it, put everything away & hide all of the evidence before he gets home!!
Ok....I think that's enough for this week, even though I could go on & on, I need to save some stuff for next week!!

I'm a Newbie!!

I have to admit, this is my first blog.....EVER!! I have acquired a slight addiction to reading other people's blogs and thought to myself, I can do that, so here I am trying it out! I hope that I can keep it interesting, at least some what interesting, while sharing the things going on in my life. Just bear with me while I get started and try to figure all of this out!

I have laughed, even cried a little, been inspired, gotten lots of great ideas, and had some "ah ha" moments while reading other people's blogs. Who knows, maybe I can even do some those things to you through my blog!
